1. Prem Venkatesh- Project Lead
Prem is a Consultant Ophthalmologist based in Scotland and an alumnus of Madras medical College, Chennai, Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. Both ophthalmology and music have been his passion from a very early age. He is also a guitarist and singer with a wide range of musical interests from popular Indian music to Opera. He has been very closely involved with the project right from the conception stage. He has been a great source of encouragement for the project both musically and otherwise. As the project lead, he co-ordinates it’s activities on a daily basis despite being based in Scotland.
2. Anand Madhavan – Patron
Anand Madhavan, son of Late Mr B. Madhavan, former Secretary, Madras Sanskrit College, graduated in Mathematics from Vivekananda College in 1977 followed by a M.B.A (Finance) from Hofstra University, New York, U.S.A. He is the Director of a leading printing company in Chennai and has been instrumental in bringing out the Musical Score of the Mantras in the print format. His deep passion for music gave him the impetus to nurture his talents, resulting in him gradually becoming a singer and composer with an aesthetic flair of his own. Besides acquiring a wealth of musical knowledge, Anand, as he is fondly called has four decades of singing experience in public light music concerts, Jingles, T.V. Serials, Feature films and Devotional albums. He has also composed music for Private and Devotional albums and has many musical accolades to his credit. Anand’s initiative has played a key role in propelling the project forward and bring it to fruition.
3. V. Muthukumaraguruswamy – Chief Consultant - Libretto
V. Muthukumaraguruswamy fondly referred to as ‘Sathguru’, is an erudite scholar and eloquent speaker in Tamil and he is the Chief Consultant - Libretto, for this project and would be responsible for imparting the Tamil diction and pronunciation to the Chamber Choir of Europe. He was formerly the Joint Secretary to Government of Tamilnadu. Following his retirement, he has dedicated his time and energy to spreading the principles of Pamban Swamigal. His ancestors had a rich spiritual lineage and are considered blessed because his grandfather had the unique privilege of meeting the great saint/poet Pamban Swamigal and receiving a copy of the Shanmuga Kavacham directly from him. The same lineage continues as his father and himself are great proponents of Pamban Swamigal’s works. From his childhood, Sathguru had a deep fascination for Tamil literature and its grammar and he made use of the same to master the works of the Saint/Poet. Many students and devotees have greatly benefitted from his lectures and discourses and he continues to spread the principles of the great saint.
4. Divakar – Linguistic Trainer
Divakar, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, is a Hindu priest and lyricist by profession and the founder of “The Sivalogam Trust”, a spiritual and non- profit organization, which he started in 2011. His passion for the study of the scriptures and other literary works, has enabled him to develop a unique style of directing dance-dramas based on mythological characters, particularly featuring the four gurus of Saivite philosophy. He also has a keen interest in writing poems, songs and short stories in Tamil and has numerous songs to his credit. Besides solemnizing marriages in Tamil he regularly chants the “Thiruvasagam” during muttrodal ceremonies that are specially dedicated to Lord Shiva during monthly pradoshams. Divakar is currently involved as a linguistic trainer in the ‘Mantra meets Classic’ project and would be responsible for training “The Chamber Choir of Europe” in chaste Tamil.
5. Georgina – Linguistic Trainer/ Translator
Georgina graduated from Madras University, Chennai, India, with a B.A, B.Ed. degree in English Literature. On completion of her Teacher’s Training with a First Class she pursued a teaching career at Holy Angels higher secondary school, one of Chennai’s most prestigious schools, where she had worked for 17 years. Her passion for the English language was instrumental in encouraging her to become an Academic writer for a U.K based company. Georgina has a natural flair for writing poetry, which greatly helped her to hone her songwriting skills. Presently she has over 300 songs and poems to her credit. She specializes in Translation and renders her expertise as one of the Linguistic Trainers for the project. She has extended her full support in training the lead Tenor Malcolm Cooper from New Jersey, U.S.A, by acting as a bridge between the Tamil and English languages.
